What Flavor Is Your Water?

It's hot out there. August "dog days" of summer hot. We NEED to wear our sunscreen outside. Whether or not we are outside or inside we also NEED to drink our water!!

Water is incredibly good for our bodies. If you suffer from any of the below, it could be a sign that you are depriving yourself of adequate water:

9 Warning Signs That Your Body Is Lacking Water:

1. Headaches

2. Poor Concentration

3. Dry Mouth & Bad Breath

4. Constipation

5. Food Cravings

6. Reduced Urination

7. Lethargy & Fatigue

8. Muscle & Joint Pain

9. Dry Skin & Lips

Becoming ONE with your H20 is an easy way to alleviate some of these ailments. Some people just don't like the taste of water. We get that... A few of my favorite things to add to my water are MINT and LEMON. Both are great ways to add a little freshness to your water and are not too hard to keep on hand.

In fact, you can make it really easy by growing your own! I took a sprig of mint that I purchased from the grocery store and placed it in a small jar to grow roots. It took a few tries, but eventually the roots sprouted! Once there were enough roots in the jar I moved it to a baby pot to continue to strengthen. Eventually it out grew that and I replanted it outside in a larger pot. Now I have no excuse - there are plenty of mint leaves to add to my water every day!

Here are 7 benefits of mint leaves:

1. Rich in Nutrients

Calories: 6

Fiber: 1 gram

Vitamin A: 12% of the RDI

Iron: 9% of the RDI

Manganese: 8% of the RDI

Folate: 4% of the RDI

2. May Improve Irritable Bowel Syndrome

3, May Help Relieve Indigestion

4. May Help Relieve Indigestion

5. May Decrease Breastfeeding Pain

6. Subjectively Improves Cold Symptoms

7. May Mask Bad Breath

Now I have not started to grow a lemon tree - yet - but I also love to add lemon to my water. Just add 1-2 lemons to your weekly grocery list and place a mini wedge to your water bottle. It keeps that fresh taste going ALL day! There is a reason why spas add lemon to their water... it tastes good! You may also see them add orange slices, cucumber, strawberries and maybe even some apple. Play around with what YOU like and will keep YOU drinking that good stuff!

7 Benefits of Lemon Water

1. It promotes hydration

2. It’s a good source of vitamin C

3. It supports weight loss

4. It improves your skin quality

5. It aids digestion

6. It freshens breath

7. It helps prevent kidney stones
